Abstract

Newton’s iterative method is widely known and researchers modified it in many ways using different formulae to get desired results. Weerakoon and Fernando modified Newton's formula by using trapezoidal rule for the indefinite integral and the method has third order convergence. In one of their research papers, Vejdi I. Hasanov, Ivan G. Ivanov, Gurhan Nedjibovmodified the formula by using Simpson's ⅓ rule for the indefinite integral and the convergence order was three. My intention to build a new formula using the ideas of the two research papers. I proposed a new method to solve nonlinear equations by combining the method developed by Vejdi I. Hasanov, Ivan G. Ivanov, Gurhan Nedjibovand the Simpson’s 3/8th rule to approximate the indefinite integral and the three-point formula. This proposed method has fourth order convergence.
